Does the violence a player experiences on a football field breed a violent attitude and eventually violent actions off the field? I wonder sometimes if it should be a consideration, a topic for discussion given the domestic public actions of a few players. John Franklin-Myers Rams Jersey . It is true that in many - in fact I say the majority of positions - on a team you have to internally develop an intense insensitivity to hitting and being hit. It is called football but it could be called "hitball" because all you do is hit other people to get the ball and when you have the ball you can expect to get hit. Ike Taylor was going after the ball and got hit by his own guy, his own teammate and broke his arm on Sunday night in Carolina. I do wonder if year after year if it does not change a person and their perception in an emotional moment of right and wrong. Now this is not a rationalization or excuse in regard to Ray Rice or others but more an inquiry as to why an action is taken that has such dramatic consequences. In my time as a player you did come across a player of two where you had to wonder if it was only a matter of time before the police would be visiting his home. And among players it was looked at as a weakness and with disdain, that on our team we had a guy that could not control his temper and anger on the field. Yes, a thought or comment was made that it was just a matter of time that his attitude would get him in trouble - truly a minority of people in the extreme. I do think football can change you in personality and values. Over time as a player you do need to switch on before you play, switch off when you leave the field. Still I found switching off very easy, switching on taking some emotionally concentrated effort and purpose. One of the aspects I enjoyed about playing football were the people and the personality changes you saw from nice guy to not so nice guy, amazing to watch and experience. And after the game the not-so-nice guy was gone and the normal nice guy returned. All the time? No, but almost all the time. I do think that many of the issues facing the NFL are very similar to the issues facing society. I am more aware of meeting the wrong person at the wrong time in daily life than I ever was in a football atmosphere. Still, I cant help but wonder if the demands of the sport dont warp the mind a little, and a little mind warping is a lot. Again this is not to justify or create an excuse. People I have spoken to all agree that the Rice incident is shocking and repulsive but because it happened as time moves on you do wonder why and how a man with so much to lose in a moment would lose it all. I do believe that the surrounding associations and environment you grow up in just may be the biggest influence in life. It the case of football because the aggressiveness and violence is rewarded it may and can change you. It has logic. The league will introduce programs and courses and hire specialists and this and that. All good. Still players also must realize whether it is football, boxing, hockey or MMA the sport they are participating in is not the norm. It is an event that has a beginning and ending that need a temper or anger switch to be turned on and turned off. Yes, hitting people can be a rush, but the rush has to stay on a field, in a ring or on the ice. If it is, then no problem. If it is not, big problem. Pro athletes are not raving maniacs of evil intent, quite the opposite. Yet, you do conclude that some handle the demands better than others. And the demands can change you at the most inopportune time. Not a rationalization, just a theory. Ramik Wilson Rams Jersey . The 23-year-old Woods, Tiger Woods niece, closed with a 4-under 69 at Royal Pines to finish at 16-under 276. Lee also shot 69 in the event sanctioned by the European and Australian tours. Woods birdied the par-5 15th to open a two-stroke lead, hitting a wedge from about 120 yards to 4 feet. Joseph Noteboom Rams Jersey . - Nikita Jevpalovs scored 6:22 into the second overtime as the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada edged the visiting Rimouski Oceanic 2-1 on Tuesday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoff action. http://www.ramsrookiestore.com/Rams-Joseph-Noteboom-Jersey/ .com) - Nathan MacKinnon scored the winning goal in the shootout as the Colorado Avalanche rallied for a 3-2 win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday.NEW YORK -- Aaron Harang knew the score, hed done this before: No hits, too many tosses. Harang didnt allow a hit for seven innings but was pulled after 121 pitches, and reliever Luis Avilan gave up David Wrights two-out single in the eighth as the Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 6-0 Friday night. "It wasnt that tough of a decision, really," Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said. As Harangs pitch count increased on a chilly evening, it seemed doubtful he would go the distance. Harang walked six, including two in the sixth inning and another pair in the seventh. "I know how it works," he said. Sure does. In 2011, in his first start for San Diego after missing a month because of a foot injury, he pitched no-hit ball for six innings and was taken out after 95 pitches. Harang retired the first two Mets batters in the seventh, then went to full counts on the next three. He threw 23 pitches in the inning. "If Im through eight, Im going back out," Harang said. Harang (3-1) left for a pinch hitter during a long, four-run eighth. He was never in the on-deck circle -- the decision had already been made. Gonzalez had Harangs health in mind. The 35-year-old righty said he fought his manager, but not much. "I know its probably the hardest decision hes ever going to have to make," Harang said. "He reiterated multiple times, Man, I hate doing that." Gonzalez said it wasnt quite that difficult. "I want him pitching 27 more times," Gonzalez said. "If it was the ninth inning, maybe, think about it." "It gets to the point you chase that no-hitter, chase that dragon, youre up to 140 pitches," he said. "I think we made the right decision." Jordan Walden completed the combined one-hitter. The Mets hit few balls hard against the resurgent Harang, who lowered his ERA to an NL-best 0.70. The closest they came to a hit off him was actually on a check-swing tapper by Travis dArnaud in the second inning. Second baseman Dan Uggla charged, snapped a throw and dArnaud was called out. Television replays appeared to show dArnaud mightve been safe with an infield hit, and manager Terry Collins discusssed the call with first base umpire Eric Cooper. John Kelly Rams Jersey. But Collins didnt challenge it because Lucas Duda, who had been on first, tried to advance to third and was easily beaten by first baseman Freddie Freemans return throw. "I thought I was safe, but its the perfect reason to not challenge something because there was an out at third," dArnaud said. "I know that if you get it right, they give it back to you, but Terry went out, talked to the umpire and then explained the whole situation to me." Wright spoiled the combo no-hit bid with a clean single to left field. The 6-foot-7 Harang took a no-hit try into the seventh inning for the second time this year. He did it in his season debut, giving up a leadoff single in the seventh at Milwaukee. He has never pitched a no-hitter in 13 major league seasons. Harang struck out five. He fanned pinch hitter Andrew Brown with runners at first and second with his final pitch, protecting a 1-0 lead. Harang finished up last season with the Mets, then was let go by Cleveland in spring training. He kept up the Braves recent run of stellar pitching. Julio Teheran beat Philadelphia 1-0 on Wednesday and Alex Wood lost to the Phillies 1-0 Thursday. The Mets had their three-game winning streak snapped. Before the game, they traded slumping first baseman Ike Davis to Pittsburgh and activated outfielder Chris Young from the disabled list. Freeman hit his fifth homer, a two-run shot in the eighth. The Braves got a run on a strange sequence that began with a double by Uggla -- Justin Upton was thrown out at home on the play, but Uggla headed to third and scored when dArnaud threw wildly into left field. Jordan Schafer added an RBI double beyond the reach of right fielder Curtis Granderson. Chris Johnson hit an RBI double off Jonathon Niese (0-2) in the second for a 1-0 lead. NOTES: RHP Ervin Santana (1-0, 0.64 ERA) starts for Atlanta on Saturday vs. RHP Bartolo Colon (1-2, 6.00). Colon has been having back trouble, and Collins said Daisuke Matsuzaka needed to be ready in case the problem flares up. ... Kent Mercker pitched the Braves last no-hitter in 1994.
