OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators let out a collective sigh of relief Sunday night. George Gervin Jersey .The Senators defeated the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 in overtime to snap a five-game losing streak— scoring four unanswered goals to come from behind and secure the win.Erik Karlsson scored the game winner at 1:21 of the extra period, but Mika Zibanejad was the biggest contributor scoring twice and picking up two assists.(The win) was very important and the way we won too, said Zibanejad. To come back from 3-0 and being down that early and I think we can build on this. It shows what kind of character we have on this team.David Legwand also scored for Ottawa as Craig Anderson made 30 savesThings didnt exactly go our way at the start, but I thought that we stuck to it and actually came back with a push, said Senators coach Paul MacLean. It was a very good push that was led with Chris Neil, Craig Anderson in the net and the play of Mika Zibanejad, Bobby Ryan and Mike Hoffman.Radim Vrbata, Kevin Bieksa and Brad Richardson scored for Vancouver (18-9-1) as Eddie Lack stopped 41 shots. This marks just the second time this season the Canucks have lost back-to-back games and is the first time on the road.I dont think we played very well to be honest, said Richardson. They were a lot more desperate than us.Ottawa referred to a fight between Chris Neil and Derek Dorsett early in the second period as a turning point in the game.I thought (Neil) showed that were not just going to go away, said MacLean. Were here, were at home. You got it 2-0 and you guys got a break here and made a good play on another one, but were here and were going to play. I think he really showed his teammates that were here to play and were here to compete and we needed to start doing it.Dorsett was less than impressed with Neil and didnt mince words after the game. The first period he asked me to fight and I tell him, no Ive got a bad hand, and he keeps coming after me and finally I fight him, said Dorsett. Its a pretty even fight and then I fall down, he gets two punches in and the refs in there so its just uncalled for and then he does the junior move and starts waving on their fans. Its Chris Neil in a nutshell.Things looked bleak for the Senators (11-11-5) when the Canucks took a 3-0 lead early in the second as Richardson took advantage of a Chris Phillips giveaway and walked in to beat Anderson.Ottawas comeback bid started midway through the second as Legwand scored a power-play goal at 10:54.Zibanejad made it 3-2 at 14:12 of the second as he picked up his own rebound and banked it in off Yannick Weber. He completed the comeback with just over one minute remaining in the period as he took a pass from Bobby Ryan, who had three assists on the night, and beat Lack off his backhand.Zibanejad, who had been a healthy scratch for two games two weeks ago, now has four goals and three assists in his past four games.I think after those two games that I didnt play it was more of a message to dictate and play with instinct and I think I took that to heart and its something Ive been working on, said Zibanejad. Its coming more and more and obviously confidence is a big part of it, but I think playing on instinct and not thinking and not waiting around for anything that kind of helps it out too.Vancouver opened the scoring at 6:10 of the first as Vrbata showed great skill and patience as he had a nice deke to get around Anderson and score into an open net.Just over one minute later Bieksa made it 2-0 as his shot from just inside the blue-line made it through traffic.Mark Stone returned to the lineup after missing one game after taking a puck to the ankle against the Islanders last Thursday. The Canucks wrap-up their seven-game road trip Tuesday against the Montreal Canadiens, while the Senators are off until Thursday when they host the Los Angeles Kings.Notes: D Marc Methot was a late scratch. The Senators were without D Patrick Wiercioch (muscle strain), LW Milan Michalek (upper body, day-to-day) and G Robin Lehner (knee, day-to-day). C Colin Greening and C Zack Smith were healthy scratches. The Canucks were without C Shawn Matthias (head, day-to-day). D Frank Corrado and LW Tom Sestito were a healthy scratch. Behind the talents of rookie Johnny Gaudreau, the Flames will look to keep pace Thursday night when they face the Minnesota Wild in the second of a six-game homestand.(SportsNetwork.com) - The Oakland Athletics pulled off the first big trade of the baseball season Friday. Now theyll try to secure a series win over the Toronto Blue Jays at O.co Coliseum. Following their extra-inning win on Friday, the As acquired starting pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel from the Chicago Cubs for minor-league shortstop Addison Russell, minor-league outfielder Billy McKinney, pitcher Dan Straily and a player to be named later. The deal is expected to become official today. On Friday, Melky Cabrera misplayed a ball in left field, which allowed Derek Norris to score the winning run from first base off a double from Nick Punto in the bottom of the 12th inning on Friday to carry the As to a 1-0 win. Tommy Milone tossed six shutout innings and the bullpen did the rest, as six relievers combined to throw six more scoreless innings, with Dan Otero (7-1) earning the win. Chad Jenkins (0-1) allowed one run in his two innings of relief in taking the loss. The Blue Jays, who also lost 4-1 to Oakland in the Thursdays series opener, had nine hits, left 10 men on base and went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position. Mark Buehrle will attempt to keep his bounce-back season going on Saturday. The veteran left-hander had a tumultuous few seasons after departing the Chicago White Sox, with whom he spent the first 12 seasons of his career. Buehrle was part of the influx of big free agents that signed with the Miami Marlins in 2012 only to be sent to Toronto the following offseason. After a middling campaign a year ago (12-10, 4.15 ERA), Buehrle, and the Blue Jays themselves, have been much better this year. The 35-year-old has pitched himself to a 10-5 record and posted an ERA of 2.50, which as it stands would be the lowest of his career. Should he maintain the pace he is on, Buehrle would break his previous nest mark (3.12 in 2005) by more than half a run. Buehrle pitched against tthe White Sox his last time out and allowed two runs over eight strong innings. Derrick White Jersey. Unfortunately, the Blue Jays were unable to find any offense to support him as they fell 4-0. It continued a disturbing trend for Buehrle, who has lost his last four decisions and has not earned a win since June 1. His career numbers against the As are solid enough (3.63 ERA), but he has never consistently pitched his teams to victory against them, with an 8-13 overall record against Oakland. Another lefty in the midst of a rebound year will oppose Buehrle in this one, as Scott Kazmir toes the rubber for Oakland. Kazmir, who was one a dominant force for the Rays, struggled following a trade in 2009 that sent him to the Angels. Kazmir never found his way in Los Angeles, going 11-17 with a 5.31 in parts of two seasons. After spending the 2012 outside of Major League Baseball, he caught on with the Indians last season and then signed with the As for this year. The returns have been phenomenal for Oakland, as Kazmir has gone 9-3 with a 2.61 ERA in 17 starts. He is also doing a great job of keeping runners off base (1.026 WHIP), despite a dip in strikeouts per nine innings (7.9). Kazmir bounced back from a miserable start when he last took the mound. Although he only lasted 5 1/3 innings, he managed to allow just a single run and strike out seven in a no decision against Detroit. In the previous start he had allowed a season-worst seven runs in just three innings against the Mets. Kazmir has already pitched against the Blue Jays this season, starting against them on May 23. He allowed three runs over seven innings of work to take a loss in a 5-2 final. In 19 career starts he is 10-6 with a 4.01 ERA against Toronto. Although Oakland has had the upper hand to start the weekend, Toronto has been the more dominant between these teams recently. The Blue Jays swept a three- game series at home from May 23-25 and won two of three in Oakland a season ago.
